When you think of a criminal record one usually thinks about serious crimes and the men who perpetrate the crimes. Interestingly one of the most common crimes in Canada is Impaired Driving, also known as DUI or DWI or Driving over 80mg.
Many people are not aware of the negative implications of having a criminal record until it happens to them or someone close to them.
We often have women calling us who are embarrased, ashamed and sometimes depressed about their criminal record which is often a DUI, Impaired Driving or petty theft conviction. They are eager to clear their criminal record by obtaining a Canada Pardon to which we offer guidance and support.
The following is a thank you letter from a woman who we helped to obtain a Pardon for a DUI, Impaired Driving conviction:
“This Pardon, and the wonderful assistance of the employees at Pardons Canada, made all the difference in my life.”
“Sometimes very bad things happen to good people and that was the case with me. I am a loving and caring wife and mother who has always tried to do my best. A few moment of extremely bad judgement, in combination with what I consider to be a true illness, cost me my self respect, my self esteem, and caused my family considerable pain and concern.”
“I was afraid that I would not be able to obtain employment due to the criminal record, or that I would not be able to travel with my husband and children. It caused me a lot of pain.”
“Today, thanks to Pardons Canada, I have been able to put these very bad moments behind me for good. A tremendous burden was taken off my shoulders.”
“I have to find new employment, and I am able to answer the question about a criminal record honestly and without shame, thanks to my pardon. I can’t think of what my life would be like had I not been granted this pardon.”
“I am so grateful and hope that others may continue to have this assistance so that they too may be delivered from the pain of having a criminal record in today’s society.”
“I have had five years without taking a drink of alcohol, because if it let me down such a destructive path, I would be defeated once again. Life could not be better for me now, and I just want to thank you again Pardons Canada for you help. I will be eternally grateful for your kindness and support.”
