Many people don’t realize how much a criminal record can impede on getting work until it happens to them.
We speak to people with old DUI or Impaired Driving charges who cannot even get a job at WalMart because they cannot pass a criminal background check. Even if the charge is really old, the employee can see it on the criminal background check and will likely hire another candidate who does not have a blemish on their record.
Sadly, if you have been charged for a criminal offence which has later been dismissed, stayed or withdrawn in court, as well as conditional or absolute discharges, these will still show up on a criminal background check because you were fingerprinted and accused.
What a relief for people to find out that they can get a second chance in life with a Canada Pardon or File Destruction.
Here is a letter from a client we recently helped to get a Pardon for a DUI charge:
“As humans we all make mistakes and do not always make responsible choices, as I have done in the past.”
“It felt great to have applied for a job at a diamond mine in NWT and was hired after going through a required company criminal background check to which I now have no criminal record.”
“Thanks to you Pardons Canada for helping me obtain my Pardon.”
