Erasing my criminal record is something that I have to do, and I want to get the process started as soon as possible.
Theres only one reason why, and its because I would like to pursue a career in truck driving, so I need to be able to cross the border into the states. (If for whatever reason, I’m not able to enter the states, I would rather save my money and keep the criminal record).
Pardons Canada: You would not be allowed to enter the US with a criminal record but once your pardon is granted you will be safe to travel. If you were already denied entry to the US then you will require a US Entry Waiver to return to the US.
Therefore, I need a guarantee in writing (by replying to my email) that removing my criminal record with your company will allow me to gain employment by passing a criminal check.
Pardons Canada: Once your pardon is granted you will be safe for employment as your name will no longer show up on a criminal background check.
Also, could you tell me the total process time, and total cost (no hidden fees.)
Pardons Canada: Timing depends on the courts and police but usually 12-20 months. Cost to Pardons Canada is $795 + tax. You may need to pay the Receiver General $50 to approve your file in the end if you have a full conviction.
Another problem that I have is, I heard that I have to do a lot of running around for this process (to the police station for fingerprinting, etc,) but I work 14 hours a day, 5 days a week, so I have no time. Therefore, can you explain to me how many times and where i have to go, for this process to work?
Pardons Canada: We will collect most of the paperwork on our end including court and police records and rcmp files but you will need to take time to go to a police station or digital fingerprinting agency to get your prints done. You can do this on the weekend and also it will only take about 10 minutes.
Last thing, I have 2 separate convictions. Once when I was 18 years old, and once when I was 20 years old (i am now 32 years old.) You guys will be removing both?
Pardons Canada: One pardon will remove all convictions.
