Visitor: I’m looking to find out if/when I can apply for a record suspension with the help of your organization. I understand it is 5 years however unsure when that time starts for me.
The charge for my DUI or Impaired Driving offence was Dec 18th 2016; I was criminally convicted in Dec 2018 and (paid my fines right away) and had to have a condition to drive with a breathalyzer for a one year period which ended Mar 2019.
I’ve been turned down for two dream jobs due to my criminal record including with a City and a private organization (both not finance positions). I would like to move forward in my career and my record is proving to be a barrier. Can you provide some advice and dates when I can start an application?
Pardons Canada: You will be eligible to receive a pardon or record suspension five years from your fine payment for the DUI. It is fine to start the application process early as we can gather and prepare the documents in advance. Once your pardon or record suspension is granted then you will no longer have the problem of losing job opportunities because of your criminal record as it will no longer show up.
