Visitor: So as you may be aware I’ve had trouble in the past and was charged with robbery back in 2015 and was sentenced 10 months, I got out in 7 months on provincial parole for good behavior.
Now that part of my life I absolutely detest and was very disgusted with myself and choices especially being a single mother I was going through a very rough time then and made a mistake.
I did my time and worked my butt off to maintain a healthy, sober and active lifestyle. I’ve taken so many workshops and training to improve my knowledge and education as well as health and sobriety.
Unfortunately, without my knowledge I must add, was charged with “Uttrering Threats” in 2018 to a person that was already threatening my kids and mother but I had only indirectly left that person a voice message and didn’t speak to them directly. So that person got the reaction they wanted and charged me using the voice mail.
Without my knowledge I had court for that (in Espanola Ontario/2018) and ended up not attending (because it was without my knowledge) and the Espanola court issued a warrant for my arrest!! (Cut back to present day) I was then arrested at a McDonald’s by a Sudbury Police Officer this past January, here in Sudbury and then the next day I turned myself in at the Espanola Police station, where I was issued a PTA with finger prints done there.
I attended that (PTA) hearing on February 18th/2022 at 10am on zoom video court. The judge “withdrew” the charge and issued a “Peace Bond” for me for 12 months!! Even though I’ve never even had contact with the accused at all since 2018! There was absolutely no reason for any of it! No one even thought to contact me regarding that court date back in 2018!! So because of all that unnecessary drama, I now have a Peace Bond for 1 year starting from February 18 2022.
Is there any point now, to start my Pardon application and payment? Or will this Peace Bond have a negative effect on my application? Is this Peace Bond something that will impact the decision to approve my Pardon? Should I now wait until the Peace Bond is over and then start, giving the explanation of what happened and why? I need to know the best options available to me now with this hanging over me.
I just graduated with honors as Valedictorian, from Collge Boreal this past March (2022) in Carpentry! And I’m attending training for April 19th 2022 to become a full Union Member in the Carpentry field. I absolutely did not need this in my live right now or ever! All I’m trying to do is fix my life, be a productive member of society and keep out of trouble, while being the sole provider of my kids! I just want to have a normal life and a good paying job to provide for my family! Now I’m not sure what’s gonna happen without a Pardon or where my future will go!
I’m so terrified of failing my kids but especially myself! I need this criminal record gone now to start making my life better, by doing everything I possibly can to achieve that.
Pardons Canada: One pardon will remove all of your offences but because you have an indictable offence in 2015 the eligibility date is 10 years from the end of your punishment. This means the peace bond that ends in 2022 won’t get in the way of your pardon but you will still need to wait until your eligibility date to get your pardon granted.
