Many people make regrettable mistakes in their life and some lead to criminal charges that can affect their livlihood. We speak to hundreds of Canadians each week who are seeking to obtain a Canada Pardon from past criminal convictions. A percentage of these people have battled substance abuse in their past on got into trouble with the law as a result. Years later they have turned over a new leaf in their life, have become sober and live a crime free life. Thankfully having a Canada Pardon allows them to re-integrate into society without the stigma of having a criminal record.
Below is a letter we recently received from a person who we helped to obtain a Canada Pardon:
“Because of my alchoholism in the past I would lose good job opportunities. I also allowed myself to be used and abused in many different ways and for many different reasons. However since my last court appearance three years ago, I decided to become a law abiding citizen and do better for myself.”
“I am very proud to say that I am three years sober this November and I have a nice apartment in a quiet community.”
“I have met some very influential people in my 3 yrs of sobriety and they have become good friends. I have enrolled in a computer course and I have looked into applying for a job with the police.”
“I am thankful to Pardons Canada and the Government for taking the time to believe in me and my change in life. It feels wonderful to wake up and know that I am and will always strive to be the best I can be.”
