Visitor: I was charged in 2016 for Assault (my ex husband had scratches on chin) and mischief (broken cell phone case) and a failure to comply after I let him come around again. Spent 6 days in jail (to teach me a lesson-lesson learned) I’m being turned down for jobs working with the elderly due to these charges. I have never had issues crossing the US border and the question regarding have I ever been arrested has been brought up and discussed with border crossing in the past. Is there anything that can be done?
Pardons Canada: You have 3 convictions, assault, mischief under $5000 and fail to comply all of which can be grounds for the US border officer to deny you entry to the US. The fact that you were questioned and let in means that the specific border agent had mercy on you and did not bother to register you in their system. If you were not registered in their system then you do not likely need a US entry waiver or I-192. Once your pardon is granted it will remove all three offences from the RCMP database and next time you travel it will not likely show up in their system.
