Visitor: It shouldn’t cost someone with a first offence more money to get a fresh start and obtain a pardon for a DUI…I’ve paid $900 to get my car back from impound, the judge that I had increased my fine from $1000 to $1500, speeding ticket of $580…$120 each month monitoring fee for that blow box I had to get installed to go to work, and $100 each time to get a different license reinstated before and after the blow box is installed. My work is patchy at times as I work in the trades…and since this all began I can’t even work to pay my fine or my Bill’s for that matter.
Pardons Canada: Yes, getting a DUI or Impaired Driving or Refusal to Provide Breathe Sample or Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle can be very expensive, and you didn’t even mention the increase in your insurance cost. Other costs include hiring your lawyer in the range of $3000 to $20,000 to defend you in court even though you lost the court case for the DUI. Getting a pardon or record suspension for your DUI is important because otherwise the criminal record will stay forever and can be seen for employment or traveling when a criminal background check is done. So many people don’t realize the huge expense a DUI or Impaired Driving can have both financially and emotionally. It can really take a toll on you and your family. The light at the end of the tunnel is that you will likely never make that mistake again and once you have stayed out of trouble and the pardon is granted you will have your freedom back
