Pardons Canada – What Happens When You Get a DUI or Impaired Driving
In 2014, I was accused of failing to blow in the alcohol test which I understand is a criminal record like a DUI. In the court, the lawyer told me to plead guilty, and accepted I just paid all, it was my first offece.
The second time was in 2018. I was again accused of failing to blow in alcohol test as well. I plead not guilty in court, but lost the case. The jail time was 45 days and I finished, but my licence is still suspended for two years from 3rd Dec 2020 and I probably still have a criminal record related to those 2 problems.
Because of the failure to provide breathe sample and DUI offence it is hard for me to get a job in my field of study. That’s why I would like to know exactly what I can do, even though it seems too late.
Pardons Canada: A failure to blow, or fail to provide breath sample or DUI or Impaired Driving is all considered to be a criminal offence. You have 2 convictions but one pardon will remove all of your offences. Eligibility for your pardon will be five years from the end of your sentence which does not include you licence suspension, just the jail and probation term.
