Visitor: I have had only one charge and fingerprinted once. I believe it was in 2002 and it was in Hamilton, Ontario. I believe it was an assault charge (for the record I was young and didn’t realize the consequences and just pled guilty just to be released from custody I NEVER COMMITTED THAT CRIME. It was a false accusation). I had to pay a fine , attend an “anger management program”. I don’t think there was any probation involved either to the best of my knowledge anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.

Pardons Canada: You are eligible for a pardon as your offence was in 2002 and your eligibility date for a summary offence for assault would be five years from the end of your punishment. We help hundreds of people each year to remove records in Ontario and in fact, across the whole country in every province. It is important to clear the assault record as it will cause issues getting employment and travel if the criminal record remains intact.

We will investigate whether your assault offence was a full conviction or a peace bond, stayed, absolute discharge or conditional discharge. If it is a non-conviction then we just need to apply for a file destruction which does not require final government approval and can be removed at the police and RCMP levels.
