Pardons Canada: How to Remove a Theft Over $5000 offence
Visitor: I have had my fingerprints taken by police once I believe. In Penticton British Columbia. My very first arrest was in Kelowna British Columbia and they may have been taken there too. My charges include theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, I had a theft under 5,000$ and obstructing a police officer.
I believe those are all of my criminal charges. I served one month in jail before being granted bail. I was then sentenced to a total of around 7 months in jail, (Allouette Correctional Centre for Women in Maple Ridge British Columbia) and served my two thirds of that, being just over 5 months. I demonstrated good behaviour while inside, and was even told by more than one prison staff that I was a model inmate. I was moved to medium security right away and offered a job working in “the mill” building large wooden crates for plane parts. (I would just like to add that this was the highest paying job and was one that had to be earned, as nobody with violence or weapons charges could enter and it was also located off prison grounds).
I just about completed my entire grade 12 through the continued education program held inside the facility, receiving a 97% in English 12 and 100% in each of the others. I was released on March 20th, 2018 and successfully completed my probation (which I believe was for 18 months) while following each of my other conditions. I have not had any run ins with the police and have proved that I am a law abiding citizen. When can I get my pardon so that I can easily re-integrate into society?
