Demystifying Eligibility Criteria for Record Suspension
There is currently a lot of media attention on Pardons and how they are approved. The controversy is really related to Pardons for serious offenders who have completed their punishment and waited the mandatory time period for a Pardon.
Currently the law is that if you have been out of trouble for 5 years after your punishment for an indictable offence, then you are eligible for a Pardon. This law may change if the government decides to do it in the face of this public controversy.
