In Canada, there are a number of terms for Drunk Driving including Impaired Driving, DUI, DWI, Refusal to accept breathalizer and Driving over 80mg. Regardless of the term, many are not aware that it is a criminal offence.
Each year thousands of Canadians are convicted of Impaired Driving. In addition to all the expenses of hiring a lawyer, losing your licence and higher insurance costs, the emotional burden of having a criminal record can be severe.
Thankfully our Canada gives us a second chance by allowing Canadians the opportunity to apply for a Canada Pardon. Once the Pardon is granted, then the criminal record is removed. This is especially important when you are applying for work and traveling to the US, as criminal background checks are common and have become even more common in the past few years.
