If you are trying to get employment or a promotion, often times a criminal background check is conducted on you and the employer will see that you have been in trouble with the police. Even if you were fingerprinted by the police and the charges were later withdrawn, peace bond or dismissed.
Since there are usually many candidates for a position, the negative criminal background check can seriously impact your ability to gain employment.
Here is a letter of appreciation we recently received from a person we helped to get a pardon for a theft conviction so that they are now safe to get whatever work they want:
About two years ago I found out what a pardon is from my brother and thought he was joking but wasn’t. I had trouble finding a job with limited schooling, degrees, etc…and I always took manual labour jobs and knew if I wanted to get into a good company (benefits, RRSP, dental, medical, life insurance, etc) my record was preventing that from happening. My criminal record wasn’t bad but it was still a criminal record nontheless.
So, about one year ago I asked for a pardon from Pardons Canada and it was the best $700 I ever spent. I will get that back quickly with all the paychecks now. Now I work in a big company with all the benefits, I pay taxes and know that when or if I leave my work I would have a good chance of getting good jobs. I only got this job because Pardons Canada sent me a support letter to say its in the process and then once my pardon was granted then they were happy about it.
Now I have a better future and can go to the US legally if I had to and travel abroad. One thing is very important and that is to keep clean, because an easy way to mess up your life would be to steal again or do something stupid like drink and drive. I am so grateful to Pardons Canada for helping me in this matter.
