Demystifying Eligibility Criteria for Record Suspension
Each day we receive many calls and emails from people who cannot get employment due to a past criminal record. In the following email, this person was hired on to a bank but after the criminal background check (which was done one month later) she was fired.
Since this charge was 14 years ago for theft under, we could have had it removed many years ago and she would never have had this terrible experience.
Once we obtain the pardon/record suspension she will be completely safe for employment and traveling.
Visitor: My name is Robin
Visitor: I am not an existing client.
Agent: Thank you. How come you want the pardon?
Visitor: I just recently got fired from my job due to my criminal back ground.
Visitor: I worked for company that knew I had a criminal background and after a month they terminated my employment
Visitor: due to my criminal record.
Agent: Okay. When was the last time you were in trouble with the police?
Visitor: 14 & 15 years ago!! 1999 & 2000
Agent: Okay. The next step would be for me to have a counselor contact you who can answer additional questions and help you obtain a pardon/record suspension.
Visitor: nothing on my record since. I obtained a copy of my record from the RCMP today
