Does a Peace Bond Show Up on a Vulnerable Sector Check?
There are hundreds of cases each day across the country were a domestic issue arises and the police are called to the scene. As soon as the police are called, criminal charges for assault are usually given. This often comes as a shock to the people who have called the police in a moment of distress.
In many cases, the person who called the police did not really intend to lay criminal charges and would like to drop the charges, however once fingerprinted the person is now in the criminal record system. If it is a first offence, usually the judge will order a peace bond between the two parties.
However, since the person has now been fingerprinted, if a criminal check is done, an employer or the Americans can see that he/she has been in trouble with the police.
In order to be safe to travel and for employment, the person requires a file destruction to remove the fingerprints, photos, court and police information from the system.
