Pardons Canada: Can I Travel to the US with an Assault Conviction?
Visitor: My charges were quite sometime ago. I had a very abusive and traumatic childhood etc. with that said I was a quite angry youth.
I was accused and charged for something falsely , that I feel was someone trying to hurt me for snapping on them verbally one day. I was found not guilty but I was charged as an adult but the Individual involved fabricated the story saying it happened while I was a youth.
I believe my only record should be of assault it was defending myself against two males caught on camera but due to my martial arts trading I got the better of them and was charged. Not wanting to go to jail I plead guilty and it was reduced to simple assault. I’d like to have a pardon so I could work wherever I want as I’ve sustained multiple accidents and injuries and don’t want to do any more damage with work to my body. I thank you for your time.
Pardons Canada: Once your assault charge is pardoned then you will be safe for work as nothing will show up on a criminal background check. If your assault was discharged then you need a file destruction to remove your prints but in your case if it was a full conviction then a pardon will be needed.
