The criminal justice system in Canada is set up to give punishment but also redemption, in the case of a Canada Pardon.
There has recently been a lot of media attention on a Pardon granted to a Sex Offender in 2007. As always there are many sides to a story and there are concerns that certain crimes should not merit a Pardon.

Ultimately, the government (elected by the people) will decide whether the current system is fair or needs to be changed in order to limit access to Pardons for certain crimes.
