There has been a lot of talk about whether pot convictions will be removed automatically once October 17th rolls around and cannabis is legal in Canada.

People want to remove their criminal record for many reasons but the most common being that they will get denied entry to the US with a criminal record for pot no matter how old or how small the offence.

Pardons Canada believes that the process for pardons is much too complicated for the government to issue a blanket pardon for all pot convictions.  The main reason being, that a pardon can only be granted if a person has been out of trouble for some time and this has to be proven by local police checks.  In addition, a pardon usually removes all convictions so you cannot pick and choose and offence to pardon.
